TitleLetter from H.H.[Hsen Hsu] Hu to Sir Arthur William Hill, from Biological Laboratory of The Science Society of China, Nanking, China
DescriptionSince Hill's letter of 6 July 1927, Hu has not yet received the set of KEW BULLETIN that Hill promised to send. The herbarium specimens that were to be sent in exchange are not yet ready, as his assistant has started to collect along the borderland between Szechuan and Kweichow [Guizhou]. Hu discovered a new species of Styracaceae, named as Sinojackia xylocarpa, which he briefly describes. Its nearest ally appears to be Handel-Mazzetti's Melliodendron. Hu made a beautiful plate in his ICONES PLANTARUM SINICARUM and he asks if Hill has seen the first fasciule of this work, published by the Commercial Press at Shanghai. He is sending Hill his paper on the forest flora of Southeastern China.
