Item level
This record describes individual items within a collection e.g. an individual letter. Very few of Kew’s archive collections are catalogued to this detail at present.

Administrative history
This field gives brief biographical details of the creator of the collection or a brief administrative history of the organisation or department that created the collection.

Reference number
This will take the format of BOR/1/1 and is what is used to identify and retrieve a particular item within a collection. If a collection has been catalogued to file/item level, please quote the reference number when requesting to access this item.
