AdminHistoryFrank Womersley was born in Chapeltown, Sheffield on 16 May 1874. His passport lists his occupation as a 'moulder'. He was an Alderman and Chairman of the Sheffield Corporation Water Committee. He was a City Councillor for Burngreave. In 1934 (aged 60) he was working in the moulding shop at Brightside Foundry and Engineering Company Limited where he sustained an injury when the chain on an overhead crane snapped and a heavy load of moulding boxes fell onto two workmen (Sheffield Independent, 19 Apr 1934). Frank Womersley retired from the Council in 1945 after 50 years work in the socialist and co-operative movements. His last address was 44 Raisen Hall Road, Southey. He died in Sep 1950 aged 76 years.
