TitleJohn Fearn Limited (later Sheffield Cooperage Limited), Upperthorpe, Sheffield
AdminHistoryThe original site of the John Fearn Ltd. works comprised several plots of land bounded by Upper Allen Street, Leicester Street and Radford Street. The first of these plots was leased to John Fearn from the Church Burgesses by a deed dated 25th March 1825. The deeds in thsi collection relate to a later leased plot (see CB/182 for complete list of leases to John Fearn).

The 1828 trades directory refers to John Fearn as a scissor caster, and originally the works produced cutlery and castings for the cutlery trade. The firm, however, diversified into the manufacture of brewer's bushes, brands, shives, and other coopers tools, and turned wooden parts.

The firm was taken over by Sheffield Cooperage Ltd., of Upperthorpe, c.1960.
