TitleWilliam Wilberforce to Samuel Roberts, written from near London (own hand)
DescriptionReferences to some fault of the writer’s mentioned by Roberts. He thinks the close of Roberts’ “piece” affecting, but owns that he wishes it had not been preceded as it is. The Governors of the Hospital have resolved their Bazaarhall shall no longer be an agent in the “unprincipled work” [probably drawing the lottery tickets]. Mentions the “base treatment” of Southey and an unprovoked attack in the Courier on himself in the days of his friendship with Pitt for licentious conduct. Would not care for himself but is concerned for his 18-year old son.
