AdminHistoryThe ‘Stories of Activism in Sheffield’ project was a collaboration between local activists and campaigners and academics from the Centre for the Study of Democratic Culture and the Centre for Peace History from the Department of History, University of Sheffield. Over the course of several years, the project interviewed activists and collected and archived campaign paraphernalia (from c.1960 to the present day).

Allowed Out was a multi-media performance of songs and stories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) activism showcased at the University of Sheffield's 'Festival of the Mind' in Sep 2012. Writer and former Derbyshire Poet Laureate, River Wolton, led writing workshops to generate original material for the performance. These focused on the incidents that shaped lives, identities and communities.
