Glossary

 

Level

This is the archival term for where the record can be found in the catalogue structure. The levels currently used in the catalogue are:

 

Fonds-level

A summary of each archive collection, for example a particular organisation such as the Wandsworth District Board of Works.

 

Series-level

Each series of records within the collection. For example the minute books of Wandsworth District Board of Works with their covering dates.

 

File-level

A record within the series. For example Wandsworth District Board of Works agenda and meeting papers.

 

SystemID

Providing a link to the full catalogue of a particular collection. Take care not to confuse this number with the RefNo when requesting a particular document.

 

RefNo

The reference you will need when requesting further information or to view material.
