A famous story is that during a hard-fought game against Cardiff RFC at the Talbot Athletic Ground Billy Mainwaring had Gareth Edwards by the jersey and his mother Evelyn, herself a Wizards legend, shouted to her son "Put him down, Billy, he's playing for Wales on Saturday."
