DescriptionDarwin has just returned from crossing the Cordilleras. He has made geological observations of formations representing great epochs of violence which broke up the earth’s crust. He has found shells at over 12,000 feet and Silicified trees in sandstone formations at great heights. Discusses finding the famous red snow and viviparous lizards. Informs Henslow he will be sending him another cargo of specimens.
