Directors’ Correspondence: Letter and plant material from Ronald Gunn to Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker

Hooker’s friend writes from Penquite, Tasmania, 24 Jan 1845. Gunn describes the plant enclosed, Aseroe rubra or the anemone stinkhorn. He notes a letter cannot convey the brilliance of its colour or its abominable foetid smell.
