TitleSir William Watson, London, to Richard Pulteney
DescriptionHe has tried but not been able to see Dr Baker. Dr Garthshore will probably find him and send Pulteney the result of their conversation. Spent Tuesday evening at Mrs Montagu's who will write to Pulteney soon. She testified a warm desire of doing him every good office in her power. Hopes that Mr Smith agrees to succeed Pulteney in Leicester so that he can come to London and pay his respects to General Pulteney and Mrs Montagu before setting off for Blandford, if that is his intent. Has dined with Dr Short, late of Sheffield, who presented to the Royal Society a great variety of residuums or concretes obtained from the mineral waters upon which he has been making experiments. Dr Sibthorpe is to remain at Oxford; [William] Hudson has been elected Prefect of the Chelsea Garden.
