Description | Pulteney's paper on Œnanthe crocata was heard and very much approved at the Royal Society the previous week; a specimen of the plant in question was shown together with Pastinaca aquatica at the meeting under the new President James Burrow. Joseph Banks and Dr Solander have been replaced on the South Sea voyage by Mr Forster. The new principal librarian of the British Museum is not yet chosen; the final choice will be made by the King from candidates recommended by the Lord Chancellor, the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Archbishop of Canterbury. |
