AdminHistoryRichard Chambers (1784-1858) was a botanist, entomologist and art collector. He was born in London in 1784 and worked as a School Master. He was elected a Fellow of the Linnean Society in 1822, and was also a member of the Society of Arts. He wrote 'An Introduction to the Study of Botany' (1847) and collected work by British artists. He died on 20 December 1858 in Balderton, Nottinghamshire.
DescriptionFour pen and ink and water colour drawings collected by Carey, showing the flowers, roots and leaves of Orchids. 2 images have the following labels:

- 'Orchis militarior major J.R. Herb 432; Cynosorchis militarior major C.B. Pin. 81' [thought to be a reference to Caspar Bauhin?].
- 'Orchis Muscae corpus referens, minor, [e galearalis] herbidis C.B. Pin. 83' [thought to be a reference to Caspar Bauhin?]
