He published a work on Samoa around 52 years later, entitled 'Old Samoa or Flotsam and Jetsam from the Pacific Ocean', in which he documented his travels on the eastern and western Samoan Islands, and his encounters with the people, culture, flora, fauna and geography.
DescriptionPrints of plant specimens from Upolu [an island of Samoa] in the south seas made by J.B. Stair of the Samoan mission. The first volume contains prints of leaves and cross sections from gigantic ferns, custard apple trees, masoa, aoa and others. The second volume contains prints and cross sections from breadfruit, palms, coconuts, banana plants and yams.
