ActivityMatriculated Balliol College, Oxford, 1778. FRS 1805. FLS 1807. In Herefordshire started experimenting with new varieties of fruits and vegetables and became a successful cattle-breeder. Wrote papers on plant physiology for the Royal Society. After moving to his brother's estate at Downton Castle, Herefordshire, in 1808, experimented in animal and plant breeding. Conducted scientific experiments on grafting, hybridity, fecundity, and heredity. President of the Royal Horticultural Society, 1811-1838.
