DescriptionThe scheme of Industrial Fellowships grew out of discussions in 1967 between the Council of Engineering Institutions and the Chairman and Members of the Board of Management as to how the Commission might best assist in the encouragement of training in engineering and technology. The seven year scheme was run and financed by the Board of Management in conjunction with the CEI to second to universities, on a temporary basis, selected engineers in the 35-40 age range to take part in teaching to help bridge the gap between theory and its industrial applications, with the object of strengthening the association between Industry and universities and furthering mutual interests in applied research and engineering education.
