Description	Note: These records are divided into two sections: RC/54/1, 1877-1973, arranged chronologically; RC/54/2, 1987 - , arranged by name of organisation or individual, but also largely chronologically. Proposals at the Board of Management meeting of December 1987, which heralded changes in the Commission's scholarships and fellowships schemes, also gave rise to a Chairman's discretionary grant for supporting ad hoc requests for funding: successful applications are on 54/II and are known as Special Awards.
