Description
Correspondence, 1921-27, with the Office of Works, the Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, the Commissioners' surveyor and others concerning the move of the Imperial War Museum from Crystal Palace to the Imperial Institute buildings; the adaptation of the Eastern section of the new Science Museum buildings for science collections in the Commission's Western Galleries and the utilisation of the Western Galleries for the Imperial War Museum; the question of the Commission's financial contribution to the new Science Museum; the request, from the Office of Works, to make structural alterations to the Western Galleries and to extend them over a vacant strip of land; the licence granted to the Office of Works by the Commission for the opening of the doorway in the Western Galleries opposite 178 Queen's Gate to allow access to that house; etc.
