'This plan shows in the centre of the main square the site leased in 1861 to the Royal Horticultural Society, and the range of buildings which were erected by the Commissioners to enclose the Society's Gardens. The southern part of the main square was lent by the Commissioners for the purposes of the International Exhibition of 1862
