TitlePrince Albert's Archive
Description26 volumes of correspondence. Correspondence in Volumes 1 - 17 is concerned chiefly with the 1851 Exhibition and its aftermath, the land purchase with the surplus funds, and the early development of the Commissioners' Estate at South Kensington. Volumes 18 - 22 cover the years 1862 to 1886, after the death of Prince Albert, and follow the further development of the Estate and the Commission's activities in which the Prince, as President of the Commission from 1850 to 1861, had been closely involved.

Three of the four unnumbered boxes of papers consist largely of letters to Edgar Bowring from General Grey and Sir Charles Phipps. Letters from Edgar Bowring to General Grey and Sir Charles Phipps are among the correspondence in the first twenty-two volumes.
