Crystal Palace Drawings
Description
Three volumes of drawings of the Crystal Palace building were presented to the Commission on permanent loan in November 1990 by the Acer Group of Consulting Engineers, successors to Freeman Fox and Partners and Fox, Henderson and Co., contractors to the building. These volumes were Charles Fox's own copies in 1851 and bear his signature.
'The building erected in Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations, 1851. Illustrated by twenty four large folding plates, embracing plans, elevations, sections and details, laid down to a large scale from the working drawings of the contractors, Messrs. Fox Henderson and Co. by Charles Downes, Esq., Architect, with scientific description by Charles Cowper, Esq., Assoc. Inst. C.E.'
