AdminHistorySheffield was raised to the dignity of a Lord Mayoralty in June, 1897 and the Duke was the first Lord Mayor.
Descriptioni.e. letters to the Duke or Ellison during the former's term as Mayor of Sheffield, asking for donations, help, presence at local events and meetings. Some are endorsed with the Duke's instructions, 1895 - 1897.

The bundle includes also a few about the Royal Visit.
