AdminHistory | Samuel Allsopp & Sons Ltd, [Brewers] of The Brewery, Burton-on-Trent had agents offices in Sheffield, namely the East India & Burton Ale Stores at 16 Market Street, Fitzallen Square, Sheffield. By 1935 Ind Coope had acquired Samuel Allsopp & Sons Limited and became known as Ind Coope & Allsopp Limited, Burton on Trent. In 1961, together with Joshua Tetley, Leeds and Ansells Brewery, Birmingham Ind Coope & Allsopp founded Allied Breweries. In 1978, J. Lyons was acquired and Allied Breweries changed its name to Allied Lyons in 1981. |
CustodialHistory | By 2003, Allied Breweries had sold its public houses to Punch Taverns. These records were found in the strongroom of what had been Allied Breweries premises in Burton on Trent and were no longer required by the new owners. The records were handed to the Brewing History Society who dispersed records to relevant record offices across the UK.
