TitleGuard Books of Labels and Packing Materials
DescriptionAdvertising and packing materials were registered centrally for Trade Mark purposes by Imperial Tobacco on behalf of all their Branches. This has led, in the case of firms such as Wills in Bristol, Ogdens in Liverpool, and Churchmans in Ipswich, to the preservation of numerous specimens of early 20th century coloured labels and packings of very high artistic merit, which otherwise would probably have been lost.
However, the surviving material for J. and H. Wilson commences only some time after the transfer of production from Westbrook Mill, Sheffield to Boundary Lane, Liverpool.
