| AdminHistory | It appears that Sheffield City Council Area Panels (with separate panels responsible for different parts of the city) were set up in 1995 with the aims of increasing local voices, improving local service delivery and supporting community regeneration. The Area Panels sought to involve local communities in Sheffield City Council consultations and help deliver local service plans and initiatives, including those designed to address local housing and environmental issues, urban planning, community development and regeneration, etc. Meetings of Area Panels involved local Councillors, Area Co-ordinators, representatives from different parts of the Council (e.g. Planning, Transport and Highways), local residents and representatives of local community groups.
The Area Panels were replaced by Community Assemblies in May 2009.
