At page 27 (May 1916) it is noted that a letter from the Earl of Meath had been received: ‘Empire Day had been officially recognised by HM Government and that the Education Committee will cause the Union Jack to be hoisted at all the schools … and that they will … make the occasion a true and worthy expression of the grateful feelings of the teachers and children for the loyal assistance rendered by their gallant fellow subjects across the seas in the present crisis of the nations history’.

At page 85 (Jun 1916) reference is made to the provision of rooms to be used as dressing stations in connection with possible air raids.
