AdminHistory | The Sheffield Corporation Bill of 1936/7 Bill sought to extend the boundaries of the City so as to include the parishes of Aston-cum-Aughton and Todwick. It also sought to acquire the transfer of the South Yorkshire Mental Hospital from the jurisdiction of West Riding Mental Hospital Board. The Corporation was empowered to acquire certain lands, make street improvements and construct additional tramways. It was also empowered to establish an aerodrome. The miscellaneous provisions in the Bill included clauses relating to the solemnisation of marriages at the City Hall, the power to sell books pictures and museum specimens vested in the Corporation. |
