AdminHistoryMyrtle Springs School was formed in August 1988 following the merger of Ashleigh and Hurlfield Comprehensive Schools. The school closed in 2006 to be replaced by Sheffield Springs Academy.

Hurlfield School became a Comprehensive in 1969. Prior to the reorganisation of the Education system it had been a Secondary Modern school. Boys and Girls were separate until 1968. The Girls' Secondary Modern School was sometimes referred to as Hurlfield Grammar School.
