AdminHistory | The Prince Edward Council School was formally opened on 3rd Oct 1929 to accommodate 1,480 children in a Senior Mixed Department and 480 children each in two Junior Mixed Departments. These two latter departments were known as the Junior ‘A’ and Junior ‘B’ Departments.
The Junior ‘A’ Department became an Infants School on 22nd Aug 1938 and nursery classes were started in Mar 1942 and continued until Mar 1953.
The Junior ‘B’ Department became a purely Junior School from Aug 1938.
From 1st April 1945 Prince Edward Senior Mixed Department became known as Prince Edward Secondary School under the 1944 Education Act. The Secondary School continued until Jul 1969 when it was closed as part of the comprehensive reorganisation of the City’s schools.
In September 1969, Prince Edward Junior School became Prince Edward Middle School. Prince Edward Infants School later became a First School and a nursery unit was opened in Jan 1976. |
