TitleBirley Spa Infant School, Jermyn Crescent, Hackenthorpe
AdminHistoryBirley Spa Junior and Infant Schools were opened in 1954 for the reception of Junior and Infant children.

The official opening ceremony for the Junior and Infants Schools as well as Birley Junior School, Charnock Hall infant School and Rainbow Forge Junior School took place on 16 June 1954 although the Infant School opened in January 1954 and the Junior School opened in June of that year.

In the late 1950s and early 1960s it was necessary to house some junior school children in one of the Infant rooms because of the increasing numbers of pupils being admitted to the school. A mobile classroom was opened at the Infants School in the late 1960s to help cope with the children entering the school from newly-built housing estates. In the early 1970s a double mobile classroom was likewise opened at the junior School. In the early 1970s, also, plans were mooted to change the status of Birley Spa Infants and Junior Schools to First and Middle Schools, though this doesn't appear to have actually happened.

The Schools have remained separate since they were opened and they came under the Jurisdiction of Sheffield Education Committee instead of North East Derbyshire following reorganisation of the boundaries in 1967.

The Infant and Junior Schools amalgamated in September 1982. The records were deposited by the headmistress in January 1982.
