AdminHistory | Clifford First (Church of England) Controlled School was built in 1860 by Mr Joseph Wilson and opened in that year, although some of the records imply that the school opened in 1832.
In 1892 the school was placed under Government Inspection and provided education for Mixed Junior and Infant pupils. In 1917 the Mixed and Infants Departments were amalgamated under one Headteacher, because of the small number of children in attendance at the school. In 1942 further reorganisation occurred when the Junior Mixed and Infant children were placed in one department, and the Senior department was closed. In 1949/50 the school became a Controlled School - the Church of England retained some control but final decisions were to be made by the Local Education Authority. The school became Infants only in 1962 and the Junior pupils were transferred to Hunters Bar County School.
In September 1970 Clifford Infants School became a First School.
In 2018 the school changed to become a primary school and was renamed Clifford All Saints. It was based on two sites - the original Psalter Lane site and the former Ecclesall Junior School site on Ringinglow Road. |
