In 1947 a Chapel of Ease of St Mary Magdalene at Evelyn Road, Intake was founded from St Peter's. In 1948 a Chapel of Ease of Our Lady of Mount Carmel opened at Parkway South, Wheatley.

The parish was founded in 1948. The present church opened in 1955.

The church was dedicated on 20 Sep 1985.
