AdminHistoryBarrow Colliery was situated at Worsborough Bridge, Barnsley. Two shafts were sunk by the Barrow Haematite Iron and Steel Company of Barnsley in 1875.

Barnsley Main Colliery was sunk in 1838. The colliery was owned by Barnsley Main Colliery Company. There were explosions at the colliery in 1942 and 1947 causing fatalities.

Monk Bretton Colliery was sunk between 1870 - 1873. The colliery was owned by Monk Bretton Colliery Company Limited.

Barrow Colliery amalgamated with Barnsley Main and Monk Bretton Collieries in 1932 forming the Barrow Barnsley Main Collieries Limited which retained ownership of the collieries until nationalisation in 1947.
