AdminHistory | In 1842 a small colliery was established at Fence in South Yorkshire (alongside the main Sheffield to Worksop road). The Fence Colliery Company formed in 1862. It acquired Orgreave Colliery in 1870 and later developed Treeton Colliery.
In 1874 the Fence Colliery Company was wound up and reformed as Rothervale Collieries Limited.
Rothervale Collieries Limited owned Fence, Orgreave, Treeton and Thurcroft Collieries.
Rothervale Collieries Limited was acquired by United Steel Companies Limited in 1918. |
