| AdminHistory | Frank Cobb and Co. Ltd., cutlers and silversmiths was founded in January 1903. Originally situated in Arundel Street, Sheffield the firm soon moved to the Howard Works in Howard Street, Sheffield. In February 1917 Frank Cobb purchased Boardman Glossop and Co. and for some time also operated from their Clarence Works in Pond Street, Sheffield.
In 1932/1933 the company purchased Martin Hall and Co. and moved into Martin Hall's Shrewsbury Works in Broad Street, Sheffield, which were renamed Howard Works.
At some stage Frank Cobb also appears to have purchased W.S. Savage and Co. who were based in Pond Street and later at the Shrewsbury Works, Sheffield.
Frank Cobb and Co purchased Cooper Brothers and Sons Ltd. in 1983 and became the Frank Cobb Group of Companies. The company went into liquidation in 1986. |
