AdminHistoryGenealogical material accumulated by Ernest Hobson (born c. 1840?) of Tapton Elms whilst he was compiling a pedigree of Hobson and the connected families. It contains some original deeds, transcripts, lists taken from the books of the cutlers' company, and extracts from parish registers (including a full copy of the register of upper chapel, Sheffield), as well as drafts of the finished pedigrees of many Sheffield families.

Notes, genealogical. The families chiefly dealt with, besides Hobson, are Carr, Atkin, Wilson, Fisher, Dickinson or Dixon, Bennet, Mappin, Musgrove, Hinchcliffe, Nanson, Wordsworth and Wadsworth, Waterhouse, Bradbury, Birley, Moorhouse, Laycock, Girdler, Sorby, Jessop, Vickers, Jollie, Jennings.
