Title | Photograph of a Charter, dated at Norton, Derbyshire, 1308, confirming a grant from Thomas de Chaworth lord of Norton to Thomas son of Roger de Gotham, of all that land called le Cliffs within the soke of Norton, with meadows, woods, buildings and all other appurtenances, just as widow Alice formerly held them. The same to be held of the chief lord of the fee by services due and accustomed; paying half yearly to the grantor 16s per annum, to wit, at the Feasts of Saint Michael and the Annunciation; for all secular services, suits of court and demands. Saving two suits at the two Great Courts of Norton each year; to wit, at the court held next after the Feast of Saint Michael, and at the court held next after Easter; and saving forinsec services to the King. |
