Description | Date: 11 Oct in the 15th year of Elizabeth, 1573.
Indenture of Marriage Settlement between John Bullocke of "Thynner Temple" [Inner Temple] in London gentleman of the one part, and Raffe Carkecke, citizen and "wryter of the Court Letter of the Cytye of London" and William Pereson of "Thynner Temple" aforesaid gentleman of the other part; whereby, after reciting that the said John Bullocke was "to take to wyffe" one Elizabeth Smythe of London, widow, the said John Bullocke covenanted with the said Raffe Carkecke and William Pereson, in consideration of the marriage and of a jointure, to stand seised of certain manors, lands and tenements fully described.
In the description of which the following names of persons and places occur; namely, Grenell alias Grenehill [Greenhill], Norton, Dronfield, Edmonde West of Amberdenhall [Amberden Hall], Essex, esquire, Thomas Parker, Edmonde Cooke, John Denham of Berestall, Buckinghamshire, esquire, Little Norton, and Godfrey Foliambe of Norton Lees; to the use therein mentioned.
The covenants are lengthy and they contain a reference to "Jone alias Jane wife of Edmunde West."
