| AdminHistory | These albums were used to identify minor control points on the ground during the 1948 survey of Great Britain carried out by the Ordnance Survey. They consist of photographs of reference points which were used as a basis for establishing the National Grid. They sometimes include topographical details of places which have changed or disappeared. If this happened during the working life of the documents, the relevant photograph was crossed through and annotated with the removal date. |
