AdminHistoryOne of the original medical officers of the Sheffield General Infirmary (later Royal Infirmary), where he acted as physician, 1797 - 1838; the anonymous letter proposing the founding of a general infirmary in 1787 is attributed to him. A native of Sheffield, he went to Edinburgh in 1782 and took his MD degree there in 1786.
