AdminHistory | Set up in 1948 with the creation of the National Health Service, this committee of Sheffield Regional Hospital Board was responsible for the management of Nether Edge Hospital and the City General Hospital (from 1968 the Northern General Hospital), Fir Vale Infirmary and the School Clinic in Leopold Street, Sheffield. Nether Edge Hospital was the administrative headquarters until 31 March 1971. At that date the committee ceased to be a legal entity and from 1 April the North Sheffield University Hospital Management Committee became responsible for the hospitals in the group, with headquarters at the Northern General Hospital. Following reorganisation of the National Health Service from 31 March 1974, Hospital Management Committees were abolished, replaced by District Management Teams of the Area Health Authority. Copy sets of minutes were sent out to hospitals under its management: these are those of the Nether Edge Hospital. |
