AdminHistory | The Rev John Browning was licensed as chaplain at Middlewood Hospital by the Bishop of Sheffield at a special service held on 3 February 1972. Amongst many other responsibilities, he served as chairman to the Patient Services Panel, set up by the Patient Professional Services Committee. He was also vice-president of the League of Friends for Community Health Sheffield, which had originally been known as Middlewood Hospital Visitors Association. He later became chaplain to Beighton Centre for the Elderly, Sheffield. Originally the chaplain was responsible for the entertainment of patients, until a separate post was created; so social events at the church played a very important role. |
