Description | Service register or obligation book predominantly for male attendants, but also farm labourers, laundry carters and messenger boys.
Gives employee's date of birth, age, marital status, and signature to the obligation, date of engagement and to what rank (position), and date of leaving; with summary of salary and superannuation deductions as long as employee remained (latest date c.1949). Added at front are salary and superannuation summaries for employees already in post in 1910, copied from a previous [not now surviving] obligation book; these entries include date of appointment (earliest 1875) and date of leaving. Pasted in at front: schedule of War Service allowances, 1940. From mid 1915 the wording of the obligation is amended to read 'hospital' instead of 'asylum'; from 1920 'attendant' is replaced by 'male nurse'. District Audit stamps 1911-1938 At front: index |
