AdminHistory	Moorgate Hospital and Swallownest Hospital, both in Rotherham, also took in direct observation cases for Middlewood Hospital under Section 20 of the Lunacy Act, 1890.
Description	These may be registers for the Middlewood Hospital observation ward. Entries give date of admission, age, date of authorisation, date of discharge or death and 'method of disposal': to where transferred. Many patients were transferred into Middlewood Hospital as voluntary or certified patients and the relating entries occur in the series of general admission registers, without stating where the patient had come from. Registers 4 - 7 give date of medical certificate and form of mental disorder.
