TitleMount Zion Methodist Church (formerly Birley Carr United Methodist Chapel, formerly Birley Carr Methodist New Connexion Chapel), Fox Hill Road, Birley Carr
AdminHistoryThe first Methodist chapel at Birley Carr (then a small village in the township of Ecclesfield) was opened in May 1832 to accommodate around 200 people. It was built at the expense of James Dixon of Page Hall and originally served as a Methodist New Connexion Chapel.

The original chapel was superseded by a new larger chapel (designed to seat 352 adults) built in 1877 at a cost of around £1,600 on the same site as the old chapel (which was pulled down). The new chapel included large schoolrooms, a vestry, tea room and offices and was built in the early Gothic architectural style. The architect was Mr John Wills of Imperial Chambers, Derby and the builder was Mr Curtis, Ellesmere Road, Sheffield. The new chapel opened on 5 November 1877.

In 1922 the church became a United Methodist Chapel. From at least 1934 onwards, the church was known as Mount Zion Chapel (or Mount Zion Church), Birley Carr.

The church closed in 2010 and the church and accompanying Sunday School buildings were subsequently sold and converted into residential apartments.

The church was situated on Fox Hill Road, Birley Carr and was formerly part of the Sheffield Methodist North Circuit.
