Description | <head>Scope and Content</head><p>Richard Harrison of Hurst (co. Berks.), knight, Laurence Halstedd the elder of Soning (co. Berks.), esquire, and Laurence Halstedd the younger of the same, gentleman, his son to Abraham Halsted of the Citie of London, merchant, second son of Lawrence Halsted the elder. The manor and lordship of Barnoldsweek with all its rights and liberties, lands and messuages, franchises, etc. as conveyed to Laurence Hallsted the elder and John Hartley by Edward Ditchfeild, John Highlord, Humfry Clarke, and Francis Mosse by a deed of 17th March, 1630/31. Recites a deed of 28th February, 1643/44, by which Laurence Halsted the elder, and his son Laurence conveyed the manor to Richard Harrison and Matthew Carleton in trust to maintain and support Halsted the elder and the younger and the younger sons of Halsted and states that the present conveyance is made in consideration of a sum owing by Laurence Halsted the younger to Abraham for the interest and raising of Abraham's portion of £3,100.</p> |
