Description | <head>Scope and Content</head><p>Concerning an annuity of £100 left by the will of William Bagshawe of the Oakes in 1785 to William Chambers Darling for his life or until such time as he succeeded to the Oakes property. In 1798, as William Chambers Darling of Glamford Briggs, Lincs., Doctor of physic, he assigned the annuity to Thomas Marris for £900 with security for continuing the payment if he succeeded to the property. In 1814 Thomas Marris, described as of Barton-upon-Humber, banker, was a bankrupt. The devises in bankruptcy then released Sir W. C. Bagshawe (as he had become) from payment of the annuity for £800.
