Description<head>Scope and Content</head><p>Simon Hake of Chatteris in the Isle of Ely, esquire, and Elizabeth his wife, John Marriott of Chatteris, gentleman, and Barbarah his wife, (Elizabeth and Barbarah being nieces and legatees named in the will of Nicholas Burley, late of Wooley (Yorks.) gentleman) and Henry Johnston of Stowmarket, Doctor in Divinity, acknowledge that William Bagshaw has paid to Simon Hake and John Marriott and each of them the sums of £100; citing that part of the will of Nicholas Burley dated 8 February, 1726, by which he left the messuage called Hazlehurst to his wife Elizabeth for life and then to his nephew Henry Johnston for ever, subject to payment of £100 apiece to Henry&apos;s four sisters, Jane, Elizabeth, Sarah and Barbarah; and also the purchase by William Bagshaw of the said messuage, during the lifetime of Elizabeth Burley, for £2,500 subject to the payment of the legacies charged upon the premises.</p>
