Description<head>Scope and Content</head><p>Philip Bate the elder of Norton, shoomaker, to Philip Bate the younger of Grenhill, sythesmith. A barn and smithy, with the messuage and lands in Grenhill (except lands granted to George, younger son of Philip Bate the elder) for the remainder of a term of 800 years), at a yearly rent of 20s. 10d. The messuage and lands were leased by Edmund West late of Darley, esquire, for 800 years by a deed of 25th September, 1568 to Thomas Morton of Nether Haddon, yeoman, and the lease assigned by the latter to Philip Bate the elder by a deed of 29th September, 1572.</p>
