| Description | The records in this series largely consists of the full transcripts for each day of the Lord Justice Taylor Inquiry (POL/12/1) and papers relating to documents produced during the Inquiry (POL/12/2-3).
On the 17 April 1989 Rt Hon Douglas Hurd, Secretary of State, appointed Lord Justice Taylor to establish the causes of the Disaster and make recommendations regarding the provision of safety at sporting events in future. West Midlands Police carried out an investigation, as they did for the Coroner and the Director of Public Prosecutions, collecting evidence on his behalf. An Interim Report was published in August 1989 and the Final Report was published in January 1990. |
